I read on a another site that their products don't require headphones because of the special technology they use. What is it and how is that possible?

This is a common marketing ploy intended to play on your ignorance. There is no "special technology" involved; rather it is simply that they use popular techniques such as monaural beats or isochronic tones which do not require headphones to work. The only brainwave techniques requiring headphones are binaural beats and harmonic x-box (a special combination of binaural and monaural beats). Binaural beats form inside the brain, rather than outside it with the other brainwave entrainment methods.   

What format are the dowloads in?

All products are available for download in high-quality mp3 format. While most companies offer their products in mp3 format, the compression methods utilized can break down the fidelity of the brainwave entrainment.
